Sacred Grounds Internet and Coffee House is
located in the former Benton Elementary School building on the corner of
2nd Street and 3rd Avenue. The building currently houses the Benton
Bible Church and Community Center and the Community Closet, a thrift
shop.

Katie Voight, manager of the Sacred Grounds
Coffee House, opened the shop in September, 2006. A member of Benton
Bible Church, she decorated the Coffee House and Internet Cafe with
items from the church's thrift shop, the Community Closet.
In addition to regular coffee, the shop's menu offers lattes, mochas,
hot chocolate, tea and baked goods.

Sacred Grounds is a popular spot for Benton's
young people. Not only do they enjoy the menu items, but they also like
to play games and use the computers. Plans are underway to open an
adjacent room for students to do homework and spend time together after
school. Katie attended school in this building and is a 2000 graduate of
Benton High School.

Several varieties of coffee are served at Sacred
Grounds. On a recent Saturday morning, two columnists from
tristatewoman.com enjoyed some delicious hot chocolate. Mary Hoff and
Sharon Carns from Cuba City stopped in to visit before heading upstairs
to look for bargains in the thrift shop.

Coffee-themed gift baskets were available during
the holiday season.
Barbara Strause helped behind the counter. Jill Perkinson, wife of
Pastor Nelson Perkinson, helped Katie make chocolate-dipped coffee
stirrers while young customers enjoying overseeing the process.

Sacred Grounds is not just for women and kids;
men enjoy the shop, too. An adjacent area houses a big screen for
showing television sporting events and mmovies.
Special programs such as knitting classes and committee meetings also
utilize the space. When you stop in, ask Katie about her recent trip
to the Dominican Republic with the youth group from Benton Bible Church.
