Attractive Hearts
Candace A. Croft, Ph.D.
‘Tis the season of sacrifice, that time when people gladly choose to do without for forty days. There are those who give up meat or chocolate to purify their bodies. There are those who sacrifice by performing service to others, an interesting concept. Others forego pleasure, as if any joy could be found in that. It might seem odd to equate joy with sacrifice, but the original definition of “sacrifice” meant “dedicated or consecrated to the divine.” Nothing is more divine than joy. We love our sacrifices. We are told suffering builds character and make us strong. To what end, though? When we hinder joy, we lose the ability to expand and grow which is our reason for being. Instead, life becomes stagnant and dull. Endeavors are pursued mindlessly, frustration overtakes us, and dreams are thwarted. This is neither life at is best, nor as it is intended. Most of us accept the modern definition of sacrifice: “to suffer loss of, give up, renounce, injure, or destroy for an ideal, belief, or end.” Suffering is a not a life dedicated to the divine. To those who believe pleasure is a sin and going without sets a noble path, I say, “Snap out of it!” I find human sacrifices interesting, especially those that are chosen on a daily basis long after the season ends. Some of the suffering I hear is as follows: “I’ve never been able to take two weeks for myself and go on a vacation.” “I’ve never had the money to buy that.” “I wish I were healthy enough to do that.” “I’ve looked and looked but can’t find Mr. Right.” Granted, no one deliberately intends to live a life of poverty and suffering. In fact, we wish for the opposite but, by focusing on what we do not want, we choose a life of suffering by default. That is because we have not learned to walk through life in tune with our true desires. There is nothing in our lives that we have not somehow attracted. Everything we attract first begins in our minds as a thought-emotion, an energetic vibration. Because energy attracts like energy, the universe responds to it by bringing us more of the same, even when we have carelessly set the vibration to attract the very thing we do not want. For example, if you seek abundance, but focus on not having it, you actually attract more poverty. The universal law is absolute. With our thought-emotions, we create our lives, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, intentionally or not. Be positive. The more you think about something—having it or not having it—the more strongly you will attract it. So, if you are going to obsess about something, obsess about an abundant, prosperous life. The moment you switch your thought-emotion from scarcity to abundance, you will immediately begin attracting more wealth into your life. To live the life of your dreams, deliberately and positively set your affirmations. You might affirm an abundant life, saying, “I want a life of great prosperity. I expect prosperity. I deserve prosperity. I accept it and am prosperous now.” Or, “I want to share my life with my soulmate. I am attracted to my soulmate now. I accept my soulmate now.” Say it with feeling. If you feel a sense of joy as you release your intent, you will increase your power of attraction. Be patient and persistent. Do not become discouraged if your life does not completely transform over night. Our world was designed with a built-in time delay to accommodate buyer’s remorse. That safety valve allows time to change a thought-emotion before an undesirable direction gains strength. It also means that, if you are changing a long-standing, negative vibration, you need to allow time for the new, positive you to gain momentum. Take heart. The universe always provides feedback about the life you are creating. Look for the signs and use them to strengthen your desire and your vibration. For example, if you desire greater wealth, you might notice others receiving financial windfalls or be contacted out of the blue to provide a service for someone. Those signals mean you are entering the right vibration and good things are happening. Suffering does not make you noble. No spiritual master suffered for the sake of suffering. We were put on earth to expand our joy and grow in love, not deprive our selves of pleasurable experiences. As energy beings, we have the power to shape our world and create an abundant reality. Consider this: What if the planet’s circumference is as flexible as our waistlines and, by expanding our lives, we cause the earth to expand and make room for everyone’s needs and desires to be fulfilled? Instead of suffering for forty days, this season, focus on joy. Attract a divine sacrifice and— KEEP YOUR HEARTLIGHT SHINING
