Natural Cure for S.A.D.
(Seasonal Affective Disorder)

The season is upon us.  As I am sitting here writing this, I realized that I have just sent my husband off to work, and it is dark.  By the time he returns home from work, it will be dark.  No wonder so many of us suffer from side effects due to S.A.D.

The lack of sunshine in the winter seems to affect us all in one form or another.  It tends to make us more lethargic, and many people suffer from depression.  There are varying degrees to the effects, but it seems that most of us are affected to some extent..

The are medications that can ease some of the more extreme cases of depression from S.A.D.  But, one of the common recommendations given to patients is to get ‘outside’. More exercise and more sunshine, during those limited daylight hours can go a long way to ease the ‘winter blues.’

Many of you are probably like me, and , although we may agree that getting outside more is the best thing to do, we know that it is not always the comfortable thing to do in the Midwest.  By January or February, it can get downright nasty here.

I have the perfect prescription!  Take a Caribbean cruise!

We as women always seem to put our needs on the back burner, and while that is commendable, I think there comes a time that we have to take care of ourselves.  We are better to those we love when we feel happy, healthy and rested, and nothing I know can do that better than sunshine, ocean breezes, and constant pampering.

Cruising is a wonderful way to travel.  You get to affordably see amazing and wonderful destinations, get pampered with the very best in service, and cuisine, and you do it all while only unpacking once!

Many people think that cruising is too expensive.  Not true!  In many cases, cruising is less expensive than land-based vacations.  Add up the costs of going to a 5-star resort, and traveling to several different destinations, paying for activities, and going out to eat at the finest restaurant for every meals, and then look at the price of a cruise, and most people are amazed.

As women, we sometimes find that we feel guilty doing things for ourselves.  We should do things for our family.  Fine, plan a family cruise!

Cruise lines  have fantastic children’s programs that keep the kids happy, active and entertained from 3 through teens.  That means you can be the hero, and still get your own much needed relaxation and sunshine.

As Midwesterners, we have such a strong work ethic and sense of family.  But, in order to do all we need to do, we have to be good to ourselves!  Soaking up some sunshine in a Caribbean island, leaving all of your cares and worries behind, is a perfect way to do that.

As the owner of CruiseOne in Dubuque, I would love to help you plan your perfect getaway.  Give me a call and let’s see what we can do to get you into the sunshine this winter.
